Details of the helicopter:
Pitch refers to the distance (theoretically) that a helicopter’s rotor or fixed-wing propeller rotates 360 degrees and travels upwards or forwards. It is like a screw, the length that you can screw in after one turn. The greater the pitch, the greater the forward distance, and vice versa the smaller! The blade angle is also called the angle of attack, which refers to the angle between the blade and the plane perpendicular to the main axis. Can be measured directly. The conversion formula is: Pitch = 2πRtan (blade angle), where R is the distance between the calculated position and the main shaft.
For most model helicopters, the rotors used to meet the needs of aerobatics are often unequal pitch rotors. The outer pitch of the rotor is large and the inner pitch is small. For this type of model helicopter, the concept of pitch is often not used. Instead, the concept of blade angle is used. The blade angle refers to the angle between the rotor and the plane perpendicular to the main axis. In unequal pitch rotors, the blade angles are equal everywhere.
For the simple helicopter as shown in Figure 1, equidistant rotors are used. This type of rotor has the same pitch everywhere, but the inner blade angle is large, and the outer blade angle is small. This kind of rotor has large lift and high efficiency, but it cannot achieve aerobatics.
